COO heads to Panda Haven Chengdu for MPT-Expo
As national treasures of China, pandas are almost synonymous with the city of Chengdu. Although none of us can say we’re quite as devoted to our food (it’s a fact: pandas spend over half of their lives just finding and eating bamboo), pandas won’t be the only ones enjoying Sichuan cuisine this September.
China’s most important convention in the museum industry, the MPT-EXPO (Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition), will be held from September 14-19 in Chengdu, China. The extensive expo is a biennial gathering of makers and shakers in the museum world. More than 600 museums around the country participate in the expo alongside over 1,200 suppliers and 800 industry experts.
MPT-EXPO is a great platform for outreach and the exchange of ideas between national and international museums, experts, suppliers, and designers. As well as renowned local museums, past international participants have included the Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, Korean Cultural Center, and the National Museum of Iran.
COO joins for the first time ever with founder and design director Tilman Thürmer in attendance and a showcase of past projects such as the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park, Kids Museum of Glass, Shanghai Film Museum, and Nanning Museum. Their participation marks further steps of a multinational design studio into China’s museum industry and the rising importance of smart design when it comes to the presentation and preservation of culture around the world.
We’ll see you in Chengdu!
