Design installation made of reusable materials for Shanghai Industry Museum

Museum Activation: To introduce the future Shanghai Industry Museum to the public, COO created a special installation at this year’s China International Industry Fair (CIIF). Crafted entirely from 100% reused and reusable materials, the installation presents the museum not merely as a tribute to the past, but as a dynamic platform for discovery, innovation, and the ongoing evolution of industry.

Shanghai, as the birthplace of modern Chinese industry, has long played a central role in the nation’s industrial development. The Shanghai Industry Museum will be located on the historic banks of the Huangpu River, at the site of the Jiangnan Shipyard, which dates back to 1865.

The museum will share the story of Shanghai’s industrial history, from its early beginnings to the present day. It will highlight key milestones, significant achievements, and the contributions of individuals and innovations that have shaped the city’s industrial journey.

This space will bring together history and modernity, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the principles and processes of industry, as well as its connections to science, culture, and art. The museum aims to provide an engaging environment for learning, creativity, and reflection, encouraging dialogue between past and present.

By connecting traditional industries with modern advancements, the museum hopes to inspire designers, innovators, and learners alike. It will serve as a space for cultivating talent, sharing ideas, and supporting the ongoing evolution of industry, while contributing to the city’s development in a thoughtful and meaningful way.

The Shanghai Industry Museum will honor the city’s industrial legacy while looking ahead to the possibilities of the future, offering a quiet tribute to progress and innovation.
