All Things Glass

The permanent exhibition “All Things Glass” examines the role of everyday glass objects and explores ways to protect and preserve them. The installation “Shades of Tomorrow” uses glass as a metaphor to represent the uncertainty and diversity of the future. Both exhibitions are constructed entirely from ready-made and reusable materials, focusing on sustainability. Interactive displays encourage visitors to engage with questions such as “How can glass help us travel to space?”, “How does glass form a boat?”, and “How can glass generate electricity?”. The section “Respect and Reflect” showcases items from the collection that were damaged by visitors, sharing the details and circumstances behind each incident.

“Shades of Tomorrow” is a metaphorical exploration of the future’s uncertainty and diversity.

The term “shades” suggests variations or nuances, implying that the future is not monolithic but comprises a spectrum of possibilities and outcomes. It evokes the idea that our choices, actions, and the events of today cast different “shades” or influences on what tomorrow might hold, highlighting the complexity and unpredictability of the future.

“Shades of Tomorrow” is a photographic examination of hope and challenges. The “shades” could represent the dark and light aspects of what lies ahead, acknowledging both the potential for positive change and innovation (light shades) and the challenges or obstacles that we may face (darker shades). The photographs encourage a reflective and nuanced understanding of the future, urging us to consider how our current decisions and behaviors shape the world we are moving towards.

The project can be seen as an invitation to imagine and contemplate various futures, promoting a mindset of openness and adaptability. It calls on us to envision multiple scenarios, preparing ourselves to navigate the complexities of the coming times with insight and flexibility.
