Gaga Wong Tee

COO’s design for Gaga Wongtee Plaza in Shenzhen adopts a an urban lifestyle with bold geometric elements. The 222 m2 space has been designed across multiple levels. From floor to ceiling, unique design treatments offer a play between lighting and furnishings.

Project Information

A wooden drop ceiling runs across the café, at parts, it transforms into a metal mesh frame that supports hanging planters and even a sculptural light installation. Carefully selected colour palette and materials maintains the integrity of the brand. Green is used as a dominating colour that threads across different surfaces, such as wall textiles.

Black and white opaque tiles are dispersed around the café, transitioning from the entrance to the service cabinet. The use of natural wood creates a warm and relaxing environment. Soft wall textiles are arranged in an alternating rhythm to break up any sense of repetitiveness and also soak up unwanted noise, a common problem in cafe design.

Through beautifully balanced colours and materials, rich layers in space, COO created a visually intriguing space that place the delicious food, Gaga’s priority, in focus.
