NXT and Sustainability Design: COO attends ndion AI Digital Forum and ICONIC Conference hosted by German Design Council
COO unveiled its groundbreaking project, SHMOG NXT, at ndion AI Digital Forum hosted by German Design Council. SHMOG NXT is an innovative real-time 3D virtual museum that challenges traditional cultural experiences and offers a glimpse into the future of museum design powered by the latest digital tools.
Architect Xuan Jiali and Multimedia Specialist David Keohane, representing COO, gave a compelling presentation of SHMOG NXT. Ms. Xuan discussed the driving forces behind the creation of a digital museum, design and curatorial concepts, and the unique opportunities a virtual museum provides to elevate the user experience. Mr. Keohane, on the other hand, shed light on the philosophy and design thinking that the COO team has been debating and developing while working with the advanced physics game engine UNREAL, highlighting the equal importance of the virtual museum as a counterpart of the physical one.
SHMOG NXT will be officially launched later in the month at the 12th anniversary of Shanghai Museum of Glass. Together, the twins aim to create a hybrid experience that captures the best of both worlds, providing visitors an unprecedented and captivating culture experience.
Meanwhile, COO Founder Tilman Thürmer was invited to a panel discussion at 2023 ICONIC Conference hosted by German Design Council, on the topic of digitalization and sustainability in green building and interior design.
Mr. Thürmer shared his decade-long curation efforts at the Shanghai Museum of Glass, highlighting the “zero-waste” philosophy that underpins the museum’s daily operations and art collection. In addition, Mr. Thürmer further shared his insights on the upcoming SHMOG NXT, which allows an innovative curatorial approach by leveraging the strengths of both domains – the digital museum becomes the domain to offer an evolving, dynamic and unique user experience, while the physical space provides a more lasting, elegant and sustainable environment to showcase art collections. This approach empowers unique storytelling with minimal carbon footprint and material waste, by reducing the need of redecoration and reconstruction.
Through his operations at SHMOG and development of NXT, Mr. Thürmer aims to inspire the public on sustainable design and prompts visitors to rethink their consumption and waste.
