Last week COO took home a Design For Asia Award in Environmental Design! With an awards ceremony held in Hong Kong, we returned to the city for the celebration and a chance to connect with our peers.
Spearheaded by the Hong Kong Design Centre, Design For Asia Awards was launched in 2003. It honors creative projects across the board that not only have a distinctive Asian perspective, but deliver impact as well. A significant event for the design community, this year over 900 projects from over 20 countries were entered. The judging panel, a group of international design professionals and experts with vast knowledge of the Asian market, selected winners based on overall excellence, use of technology, impact, and commercial or societal success.
Manuela Mappa, Senior Designer at COO, headed to Hong Kong to join the ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. With designers and thinkers from all over the continent, the Design For Asia competition gives a clear look at local talent that is doing great things in the creative sphere.
The winning Commercial Spaces project, Nike Studio Beijing, is a pop-up workout studio and retail exhibition space set in a downtown Beijing gallery. Using light, mirrors, texture, and traditional sport design elements to bring to life the Nike brand values of perseverance and speed, the space aims to make everyone who steps inside feel like a world-class athlete.
We continue to be honored and humbled by the great attention so many of our projects have received this year. Stay tuned for more award news and project announcements!
