玻璃迷宫

Adding a playful layer to the experience at the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park, COO took one of the most ancient games in the world and spun it on its head. The MAZE turns a labyrinth into a one‑of-a-kind design experience in a 575 m2 space, creating a giant illusion out of light, glass, mirrors and soundscapes, the maze adds yet another element of surprise to the glass-themed museum park.

简介

With all the usual trappings of a maze, the MAZE brings in unique elements to take the experience to a new exciting level. Comprised of seemingly endless cubicles to navigate, the maze uses three different types of glass to thwart visitors in a surreal way. With 318 panels made of patterned black mirror glass, mirrors, and transparent glass, the results are dream‑like when paired with its haunting LED lights and dark, moody setting. Patterns of bold plus shapes fill the maze as a nod to the theme of the park: glass plus more.

The idea to create the MAZE came from a need for an exciting, creative experience catered to a group of experience-seeking visitors who enjoy sharing with their friends. COO intended to create a playground that still fit the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park world. The use of glass and mirrors is elemental in connecting the experience the MAZE with the museum park and distinguishing the MAZE from the regular maze experience.

Visitors up for a challenge can take part in a stamp game for even more fun. Using a game card featuring eight distinct shapes, players try to find each shape, lit up with LED lights, within the maze. An embossing press below each shape allows players to stamp their cards and collect all eight. Those savvy enough to complete their game cards receive a special certificate from the staff as they exit. The task would be easy enough, if it weren’t for the mirrors and transparent glass ready to throw any master navigator off the trail.

The addition of the MAZE to Shanghai Museum of Glass Park helps to further establish the area not just as a museum campus but also a new kind of lifestyle hub for Shanghai.
