Nike House of Innovation / FP19

Nike Fast Pack places speed in focus with its fastest collection of footwear that is designed for daring the athletes to go faster. COO created a series of visually impactful installations that highlighted the characteristics of the shoes with a focus on the technical and performance assets in a lab-like style environment at House of Innovation in Shanghai.

Project Information

The energy-charged environment with in‑store interactive installations showcase the enhanced performance through the innovation of materials. The main features of products, such as lightweight and breathability, are translated into striking installations that visualise the thrilling sensation of speed. At the same time, series of installations and displays throughout 4 floors of Nike House of Innovation reveal the stories behind the creation of each model, matching the core concept of ‘House of Innovation’ to guide customers through the journey of innovation.

A large floor-to-ceiling digital ticker installation, comprising of constantly flashing LED lights on 4 black metal frames, captures customers’ attention at the entrance and sets the mood for racing beats. The enthralling florescent green lights continuously flash numbers, inviting customers into a world of speed. To further elevate the excitement brought by speed, the tickers start counting down. As the tickers finally reach 0, the word “ZOOM” is revealed to highlight the featured collection, displayed on the holders made of digital tickers at the centre of the installation.

A tabletop display that tells the story of innovation, from the inspiration, the making to the final product. Resonating with the winning retail concept of ‘House of Innovation’, this display materialises the creative process with videos of athletes’ feedbacks as the source of inspiration, concept sketches, prototypes and materials as evidence of process, meticulously portrays how the featured collection evolved from inspiration to production.

The innovation statement of the collection is delivered through four interactive installations. Displayed in lab-like pedestals consisting of aluminium mesh, exposed cables and LED light tubes tied on frames, the key features such as reduced weight, improved breathability and energy return, are visualised with installations, placing technical aspects of the shoes in focus. Customers are invited to activate the installation and sense the enhanced performances: industrial fans blowing the mesh fabric of the shoes demonstrates the lightness and 4 models with vinyl coated fabric from scratch to finish evoke the comfort that breathable material provides.

Daring athletes to challenge themselves to be faster, the visually impactful space with engaging installation COO created for Nike Fast Pack has successfully conveyed the brand’s messages to the customers: ‘Why not faster?’. Directing the focus onto the improvements in material and function, the lab-like style amplified the unique retail experience at House of Innovation, inviting customers to peek behind the scene of the fast-paced, non-stop innovation process.
