Collection Catalog, 400 pages

In past decade, the Shanghai Museum of Glass has grown its own collection from less than two hundred pieces in 2011 to nearly 4,000 exhibits in the permanent exhibition, Design Wing and a contemporary art exhibition hall. In commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the museum, COORDINATION ASIA helped designed a collection catalog that includes 120 pieces of exhibits, including objects that represents glass technology, art and design. The catalog summarises the collection system which revolve around three main categories – ‘science’, ‘art’ and ‘design’ – instead of an all-inclusive chronicled method. The catalog also gives an overview of the part of the collection acquired through self-curated exhibitions and collaborative programs with contemporary artists in China.

Key Visual 2021

COORDINATION ASIA created a key visual for a series of celebratory events that is applied across different medium, including videos, bags, print-out materials and a thematic mirror installation. The slogan ‘Ready For The Next’ in bold typeface and its Chinese translation are turned and skewed to create architectural shapes on the surface, breaking the boundaries between dimensions. The Key Visual symbolises a milestone of the museum’s achievement in past decade and the vision to keep redefining its role in the cultural landscape in China. An impactful mirror installation of the Key Visual was displayed inside the kaleidoscopic rainbow-inspired chapel as a centre piece of the celebration. Placed on a rotating platform, the mirror installation constantly reflecting the surroundings, radiating colourful lights that elevate the moods of the visitors.

Visual identity can set the tone for the space as well as generating a brand image for the museum across media. The Visual Identity that COORDINATION ASIA created has effectively translates the museum’s vision and success into a powerful visual language.
