On May 28th, the Shanghai Museum of Glass (SHMOG) hosted an engaging workshop, “Between Physical and Digital – SHMOG NXT Digital Curation X Glass Fusing Workshop,” at TX Huaihai, an unconventional curated shopping center aiming at younger generation.
This event presented a captivating fusion of digital exploration and hands-on creativity. It started with an enlightening introduction to NXT, the museum’s latest virtual exhibition, detailing its curatorial concepts and immersive experiences. Following this, a brief demonstration of NXT offered a glimpse into the intricate world of glass in the virtual environment. Then, professional instructors from the museum delved into the art of glass fusing, leading participants through the process of creating their own glass artwork.
During the hands-on experience, participants immersed themselves in crafting, cutting, and sanding down glass pieces to create their own unique designs. Meanwhile, they were also invited to explore the NXT digital exhibition, further immersing themselves in the dual world of physical and digital art. This distinctive event underscored the museum’s innovative approach to merging the physical and digital realms of artistic expression.
